Treating boiler feed water is essential for both high and low pressure boilers. Boiler internal treatment is carried out by adding chemicals to boiler to prevent the formation of scale by converting the scale forming compounds to free flowing sludge which can be removed by taking blowdown. The feed water is never open to the atmosphere. Ensuring the correct treatment is implemented before problems such as fouling scaling and corrosion occur will go a long way in avoiding costly replacements upgrades down the line.
